Season 6 of True Blood Starts June 16. Will You Watch?

Many fans of HBO's True Blood wondered and worried last season if their favorite vampire show may have Jumped the Shark, especially with the creation of Billith.  In fact, some critical viewers thought it went so far awry that it jumped over and back again.

Clearly, the TV show has long since left off following the story written by Sookie Stackhouse creator Charlaine Harris.  Fans fault series head Alan Ball for all the TB woes of the past few seasons (the overly long Maryanne plot, The Mickens, the gang raping were-panthers, Marnie's witch coven, Terry's Middle Eastern Smoke Monster, Lafayette's demon possession and then subsequent possession by the ghost lady, and what the heck was going on exactly with Arlene's baby?  And please explain to me how they got their version of Fairy World from Harris' work? Light pears? Ugly fairies that look more like trolls and then seeking refuge in a fairy strip club?). Now that Ball has left the series, is there a chance of redemption or is it too late?

Feelings are mixed among True Blood followers. Some think all the mishandling last season culminating with Bill's turn to Vampire God status was, if you'll pardon the pun, the final nail in the coffin. But there are those that think fresh blood (sorry, guess I'm feeling "punny" today) will revive their favorite vamp series.

Personally, I'm not excited about the whole Warlow storyline and unhappy that Jason has reverted back to his original clueless, dumb hick when he'd been making so much progress.  While I love Eric's character, they haven't given us great Eric for a few seasons. And sorry, I'm not one of the fans that's made happy by shirtless/naked Eric, or Alcide for that matter.

The one good thing that happened last season was that towards the end we finally got our old Lafayette back. The Lafayette of the "Aids burger" days. I missed him.  Of course, we had to suffer through vampire Tara (ugh!) and a Russell that was relegated to comic relief and killed way too easily.  A Roman (Chris Meloni) that had promise that was never fulfilled and Pam... what did they do to Pam!!!???  Not to mention Terry and Sam/Luna etc etc.

Fingers crossed that the writers and showrunners can get back to basic and get in touch with what made this show great in the beginning.
