As I posted last week, I am a huge fan of HBOs True Blood and began giving my thoughts on Season 4. (See Reflections on True Blood: 1 Jason). So, here I go with post #2 and my thoughts on Andy (so far - still some episodes left to go in this season). If you haven't been keeping up with the US schedule of Season 4 - this post may contain some spoilers for you. Andy has alway been somewhat of a... well, let's say 'jerk'. I'm sure you can all come up with your own very descriptive terms. But he was a comical jerk. A bit of a modern-age Keystone cop; always getting everything wrong, always being foiled.Sure there were times when he was a bit too much of a hard-ass, but... that was Andy. Season 3 ended with Jason basically blackmailing Andy into making him a deputy. Fast forward a year and not only is Jason a deputy, but Andy has become a V addict. Hello? Really? Andy. Bellefleur. From Bon Temps. Ok - whatever! So not only is Andy a V addict, he has also become addicted to harrassing Sam Merlotte. Why Sam? Uhhhh..... who knows? We can assume that it's because he knows Sam's a shifter. But seeing as he knows that, you'd think that would make him one of the last people Andy would be antagonizing. Sam could just turn himself into a gator and oops! Poor Andy! What a horrible accident! And speaking of gators, the scene where Tommy turned into one in the back of the van to throw Andy off was one of the best scenes so far this season IMO. Totally didn't see that one coming. Brilliant! And while we're talking about Bellefleurs... am I the only one who remembers Portia being in a quick scene in an early episode. She came in to pick up Andy at Merlotte's. (no, not when they found Miss Jeanette in Andy's car and they just mention Portia - but actually SEE her) I could've sworn I remember a tall, stocky blonde woman. Sadly, I lent my DVDs to someone who hasn't returned them yet, so I haven't been able to comb through the episodes to try and find it. But back to Andy. HBO - give us our regular Andy back, please. He was never much of a good guy, though he had his moments, but we liked him anyway. This guy... un uh. No good. Get him off the V and return him to his regular state of Andy-ness. Kerry |
